Uses & Safety
Water Purifier NZ sells approved water purifiers such as Chlorine Dioxide. This product is sold by us for water purification and as a disinfectant; and for nothing else. As a water purifier, chlorine dioxide has been tested safe for human consumption; https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1569027/
and is EPA approved for water treatment;
https://www.epa.gov/ground-water-and-drinking-water/national-primary-drinking-water-regulations##Disinfectants
Chlorine Dioxide has been used over many years by many organisations for water purification and for a variety of other disinfectant uses. By example, the city called Hamilton in USA uses it for water purification of that city's drinking water: https://www.journal-news.com/news/what-makes-hamilton-tap-water-world-best-tasting/zHOU8dENIJYfMeb3vNiXjO/
When Chlorine Dioxide is used as a municipal water purifier, it is mixed and applied to the water by experts. It needs to be treated with caution, and before any use the applier should ensure they seek expert advice on the quantum per litre of water. Recommended dosages for effective water treatment are provided on Water Purifier NZ product labels. Like with most products, any overdoes may cause side effects and may become dangerous to the eventual consumer of water so treated.
Sodium Chlorite (one of the source products that we supply for water purification) and the eventual post-mix chlorine dioxide, each need to be treated with respect and caution. We refer to this website https://www.chemicalsafetyfacts.org/chlorine-dioxide/ which sets out some of possible dangers and side-effects, if an overdose is used when purifying water intended for later drinking.
It is important at all times to keep this product out of reach of children and also away from any persons who may be in an altered state of consciousness.
It is important to at all times not put the product close to eyes or nose when mixing it and before diluting it with or in the water.
Medsafe in NZ warn people from ingesting chlorine dioxide in any form. We ask all our clients and prospective purchasers to see their web page here and to read their warnings and their statement of possible side effects if overdosed: https://medsafe.govt.nz/safety/Alerts/MiracleMineralSolution.asp
Water Purifier NZ is not responsible for anyone's misuse of this product or any damage so arising.
Another different perspective is from the NZ Army who have in the past used chlorine dioxide tablets as water purifiers for soldiers; they say without any negative side effects or complaints. They have also written saying; "The distribution of chlorine dioxide based water treatment tablets was discontinued for supply reasons, and not due to any medical or safety concerns". They also state the quantum of chlorine dioxide that NZ soldiers used was 0.4 gram chlorine dioxide tablet per 1.2 litres of water.
We Lay no claims to the efficacy of the product or of any medical systemic benefit.
Interpretation: Efficacy is the ability to perform a task to a satisfactory or expected degree. The word comes from the same roots as effectiveness, and it has often been used synonymously.
Errors and omissions excepted (E &OE).
